Gluten Free Rio Rancho, New Mexico

I already have a Gluten Free ABQ and Santa Fe post, I’m now adding one for the ever growing Rio Rancho! If you are a restaurant please read the restaurant guide on my Gluten Free ABQ post. If I experience issues at a restaurant I generally address with a restaurant first, if possible, to see if things can be resolved. Typically everyone is honest, willing and very responsive. I will always be honest on my pages as well. Remember, we are all humans here. This is not a restaurant bashing place.

I have celiac disease and consider this when speaking with local restaurants. This is based on my own experience but don’t forget to ask your own questions ALWAYS. Please reach out if you have anything to add and don’t forget to follow my Gluten Free ABQ instagram and Facebook pages where I post regularly.

Castle Coffee: I haven’t been but see they off gluten free baked good from Bakehouse Off the Wheaton Path.

Delectable Baking Co: The baker’s husband is celiac! Here is what she had to say when I reached out. “We have a separate case that only has gluten free goods that go in it, gluten free specific bins on a separate rack from out normal ones, as well as different bowl, and attachments. All gluten free items are made at different times when cross contamination will not occur and the kitchen has been through a sanitation process.”

Dulce River Bakery: Haven’t been but see them posting about some gluten free baked goods.

Hot Tamales: I haven’t been but a few people have commented that they are great. I haven’t spoken to anyone there to confirm anything.

Laguna Burger: I went after first seeing a review on Find Me Gluten free + someone DM’d me about good experiences. I went to the Rio Rancho location as recommended, it’s in a gas station and the cashier was a teen. I didn’t get sick but it felt like a fluke because I did not feel confident at all. I also didn’t like the bun. Maybe I’ll try a different location but I’m not enthusiastic about it. However, it seems other celiacs feel the confidence I didn’t and frequent the location (there are several).

Lily and Liam Bistro: I haven’t been mainly because their response when I was reached out was: “We do have gluten free options available on our menu, however, if a guest has a severe allergy we cannot guarantee our food is completely gluten free because we make all of our breads in house from scratch using flour.” This is a pretty standard cautionary statement however. Many in our community have had a positive experiences so maybe I will try.

M’Tucci: This is a local Italian chain and one of my favorites, in ABQ and Rio Rancho! They have amazing pasta with other gluten free options and great salads. I always get pasta but soups are great too. Each restaurant has a slightly different menu. I also love their martinis.

Pho Garden: I haven’t been nor confirmed with them, but a celiac recommended

Poke Serrano: This place has been recommended by several people.

Stuffed Lust: They are actually a food truck, and I’ve known them to have some options but have yet to been. I recently learned they are at Brewlab 101 on Thursdays from 5-9. They mention that they can accommodate celiac and gluten sensitivity. Check out the gluten free food truck list for ABQ.

Thai Cuisine: There is another location on Coors and Montano from a different owner. The Rio Rancho location has gluten free labels on the menu and is generally better than the Coors location, in my opinion.

Turtle Mountain Brewing: Our bartender was a celiac! According to him, there are gluten free hamburger buns and pizza crust, I didn’t ask if they cook the pizza on its own separate pan to avoid CC. They have 2 taco options, the fish can be gluten free with corn tortillas and without the sauce, which has soy sauce in it. The steak tacos can be gluten free with corn tortillas. They have a few salads that can be gluten free, I got the Valle Grande without croutons. They have hard ciders and some “gluten reduced” beers that have enzymes added that comes to about 10 ppm gluten. According to our bartender, he knows quite a few celiacs who have enjoyed them without a problem. I play it safe.

Whispering Bean Coffee: They have 1 location in Corrales and another in Rio Rancho. The owner is Celiac so she makes sure there are plenty of gluten free goodies that are cross contamination free. Go support a local Celiac! Here is a picture.
