Crockpot Chili

Chili is one of my favorite things to make in the crockpot. It is always delicious and these are so many different ways to make it. I'm convinced that you can't mess up a chili. Don't test me on that! Chili is naturally gluten free, but you always want to read labels on any food you buy to ensure there isn't any hidden gluten.

Chili is a thick stew like meal that typically has 3 important ingredients: meat, beans and tomatoes. Most the ingredients are things you will have in your pantry. I always have the essentials in my pantry for on the whim chili. You can use a variety of beans. Black beans, pinto and chili beans are common. I like to use a mix. For the tomatoes: canned diced tomatoes, sauce or a mix of both. For the meat I typically use a ground meat but chicken chili is tasty too! Beef is thought to be more traditional but I always use a lean ground turkey, because it is healthier. You can also add in any veggies you have: onion, garlic, potatoes and bell peppers are known to show up in my chili. When we get closer to fall I'll post my pumpkin chili, you may be able to find it on my crockpot story highlights on Instagram if you are interested!

This recipe is super basic and totally tasty. I like to top mine with some shredded cheese and some sour cream. You can eat with toasted tortilla or throw in some Fritos for a Frito pie. Fritos are labeled gluten free, if you didn't know already! In my picture I used shredded cheese, sour cream and Fritos. You may have noticed the serving is miniature. That is because we ate more of it before remembering to take a picture. Oops! I love taking leftover chili to work, especially when it's cold but chili is a year round meal for me. I hope you enjoy the recipe. You can use this recipe for chili cheese wraps, a Sonic copycat recipe that really hits the spot!

You can find the video for this chili on TikTok!
